More Progress

Everything seems to be moving forward in chunks. Today the cabinets were set in the boys bathroom, the master bath and most of the remaining cabinets in the kitchen. Eastvold Custom Woodwork brought a couple of pieces today that sported the veneers that we are using and I have to say that I am so excited about the way they look.

Tell me that’s not an absolutely stunning cabinet material.

The center cabinet in our master bath is another stunning veneer material. The two side cabinets will be covered in high-gloss white piano finish.

Hi Jason,
I just wanted to compliment you on your blog and let you know how incredibly useful I find all of the information (and details!) you provide. My husband and I are just beginning the process of trying to build a modern green home and your blog has been a fantastic resource for us. Keep up the good work!
Hi Jason, I love that Indian Ebony laminate. Could one get a sheet of such material mounted on plywood? If so where would you get it? Thanks a lot for the great amount of information you are sharing.
The Indian Ebony is actually a reconstituted veneer in this case, however Formica makes a version as a laminate as well. I would contact a cabinet maker and they would most likely be able to get you a piece. remember with veneers you have to cover both sides of the wood (most often they uses an inexpensive veneer of the back side) to prevent the piece from warping. The laminate is a really great option as well and I have to say you can barely tell the difference between the two.

I remember reading before about Brookside Veneer, is indian ebony one of their products? Thanks.
Yes the product we used was actually from Brookside Veneer but we purchased it through our cabinet maker Eastvold Custom.
