Moving Parts

At this point we are in state of constant motion. Most of our items are stored in the basement or garage and those few items we do have out are are shifted from room to room as we work. We move everything out of a room to finish that space then we move everything else out of another into the one we just completed in order to allow us to finish that next space. Meanwhile the cabinet installers are still working to wrap up their portions of the project but we are seeing progress on a daily basis.

The fifteen feet of gorgeous Douglas Fir bar arrived on Friday. The entire bar arrived as one giant “L” shaped piece, which was set on top of low wall (that backs up the kitchen cabinets) and fastened to it with screws. It was a milestone that signified the nearing completion of our kitchen and the joy that will come with moving things into their designated spaces. Simultaneously Stacy has been applying the poly on to our floors which I finished installing on Saturday morning. Both of the boys rooms and our closet are done and now we are moving onto the main living areas. Although this exercise in furniture moving is painful at times there is great satisfaction in seeing each room come together.

We ended up opting for a Z channel flashing system to create the gridded system for the wall rather than the spacer system we originally has planned on using for the rain screen.

The bar has such nice contrast with the refined lines of the ebony cabinets and stainless steel appliances.
