WOULD ELIMINATE DOFFING
HATS BY MEN IN ELEVATORS
Doffing of hats in skyscraper elevators by men when women are also passengers soon will stop if the Building Owners’ and Managers’ association campaign, opened a short time ago in Cincinnati, is successful in carrying out its objects in all parts of the United States. Capt. W.H. McIntyre, president of the association, says the habit, while well-intentioned, is a menace to the passengers immediately in the vicinity of the person who removes his hat. Instances of eyeglasses being knocked off and arguments, due to crowding because of the desire of men to save their derbies from being crushed, were cited by the official in justifying the elimination of the custom.
