I believe Marshall also tried to fly an ultralight plane (without lessons) and promptly flew into a utility pole. As I recall, he had a compound fracture of the femur which actually jammed into the ground. The Vikings' trainer at the time, Fred, said Jim was the only guy tough enough to survive that fall.

they were called the purple people eaters, right? yes Jim is a great man. I was only 15 when this happened. I remember the part about burning money. that was quite the news at the time. Yes he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. I had assumed all these years that he was inducted. well we can keep rooting for him.

Mr. Montgomery,
It is not operating as a railroad bridge anymore; in fact it is a pedestrian bridge that is part of the "rounds" trail system in downtown Minneapolis. It is one of the most historic and beautiful sites within the downtown area. Fortunately the park board and other history groups have been doing quite a bit in this area in the past ten years or so to restore more historic places so everyone can enjoy them. I would highly suggest if have an opportunity that you spend some time looking at all of the great work that has been done.

I've heard of window panes falling off of skyscrapers and crashing to the ground, but never urine! I assume that these workers were entitled to break periods as workers are now, 15 minutes every four hours. If they couldn't hold it until their breaks, they should have limited their liquid intake. If they were urinating off the side of the building, what were they doing if they had to defecate?

I don't believe guys always get it wrong, I'm of that order myself. My Mother loved perfume, chocolates and flowers. I used to try to get the kinds She liked most of all. A nice box of Ernest Hillier chocolates usually went down well... literally. Likewise, My Sister loved those things too. and I usually give the younger female members items from The Body Shop. I never found it much of a bother to please my lady friends and family.

BTW, I hate sports, never desired cars, and am happily single and un-available.

Wolfie!

Of course...perfume and jewelry, the classics! So if things haven't changed in 80 years, why do guys still get it wrong? Don't they read newspapers or maybe they do but just the sports and cars section? No honey, I didn't want a vacuum cleaner, or an iron, or even a dishwasher for christmas.

Surely some people were allergic to perfume in 1928. I know I am.

Please don't assume, as this author in 1928 did, that the other person doesn't have allergies when giving gifts.

Surprised the liberal strib didn't call the cookies 'holiday cookies'. It called a Christmas tree a 'holiday tree' this last week. What a joke and insult to Christians everywhere.
