Wolfmother’s show Wednesday at the Myth lacked the small-stage excitement of the trio’s Fine Line gig of last year. These rudimentary rockers seemed blase. “Woman” got a rise from the full house, thanks to Andrew Stockdale’s showy guitar solo at the end. That left me hungry for the real Wolfmother.

But Stockdale, who looked like ELO’s Jeff Lynne sans sunglasses, never really kicked it into third gear until the encore, which included Zep’s “Communication Breakdown” and a new Wolfmother numberthat was part punk and part plodding.

One other thought: The smokey Myth reminded me how much I appreciate smoke-free music bars now.
