With their star attraction currently on the cover of both Rolling Stone and Spin, local promoters Sue McLean & Assoc. struck the iron while it’s sizzling hot and announced the details of Amy Winehouse’s return engagement in Minneapolis at the State Theatre. It’s not till Sept. 28, but tickets will be on sale June 23 at noon ($30-$35). She’s sharing the bill with Paolu Nutini, whom I’m guessing really will be someone people care less about in three and a half months.

Winehouse’s very sold-out show last month at the Varsity was a little uneven, particularly in the singing department. But with Sharon Jones’ Dap Kings as her backing band, it proved to be afun remix ofvintage soul overall.

wow… that’s quite the jump.

i liked the Varsity show a lot, but no way i’d spend $35 to see her again, no matter what venue.

i’ve only heard one song by that Paolu Nutini guy, but it was god awful

It’s PAOLO, guys…and I have $20 that says you’re wrong. I think he’s really promising. Kid’s only twenty.
All reports from Bonnaroo are that he went over well in tough conditions.
I’ll be by in July 2009 to collect. With interest.
ciao.

Paolo, Paolu, i don’t really care that much… all i know is that his single “New Shoes” is one of the worst songs i’ve heard all year.
