I had class, and ended up missing the gig. It would have been awesome to see him do Say Hello To Heaven, and Jesus Christ Pose, but Spoonman and Black Hole Sun are so tired that Sleeping Beauty and Rumplestiltzkin are jumping around like their in the mosh pit at the up coming Slayer and Marilyn Manson concert!

Everything will be great as long as Soundgarden NEVER gets back together. Audioslave destroyed most of the crap that Soundgarden ever did. They lacked the talent of Alice In Chains or Pearl Jam, and had absolutely nowhere near the Charisma of Cobain and the gang, and even the dysfunctional Screaming Trees were a better band than Soundgarden (at least by the time that last cd was done… talk about an album aimed at 13 year old girls… Super Unknown was garbage… wait no, Garbage is kind of cool, Super Unknown was trash, wait no Alice Cooper was better… it was K-rap like K-fed.

Judging by the huge responses on this blog, how about mixing in topics that interest people?

I don’t even know who the hell this guy is.

Bunch of idiots posting, obviously. The show was awesome. Chris sounded better than he has in the last 5 times I’ve seen him. He was totally into the show and played for a hell of a long time.

Compare this show to the piece of crap that is Motley Crue and their crapfest with Aerosmith (who also didn’t seem to care they were putting on a show) I would take this show over that one 1,000 times over.

And go ahead and delete the 2 idiots who posted above me. It’s a waste of space.

I’ve seen Chris Cornell the last 4 times he’s been in town and this was the best show I’ve seen. The fact he played “Sunshower” pretty much made my night. I’m with Nancy that his voice was the best its been since before Audioslave… Not that it ever sucked, as he’s got the best rock voice in the game… Just sayin. Great show, great mix of songs, great venue in the orpheum. Backing band was very talented and tighter than I expected.

BC: Get a clue. Do yourself a favor and go listen to some Soundgarden, Audioslave, or his solo stuff before you come back and comment again on his concert you didn’t attent.

Strib critic: Yes, we’ve all heard Spoonman and Black Hole Sun, but do you think that Alice in Chains won’t play Man in the Box when they come to town 8/29??? Clasics are clasics… Hopefully you don’t have ‘class’ that night so I won’t see you complaining about a show you didn’t go to.

The show was great. Best voice in rock for sure.
BC: I’m glad you missed it…I’m sure you had a great time at class. Don’t go to any CC shows in the future.
Stribcritic: you and BC get ready for your Nickleback concert..I’m sure it will be great. Maybe better than going to class.
Chris Riemenschneider, I hate to be a critic of a critic but there is not a song called “Save Yourself”. I think you’re are refering to the Audioslave song “Cochise.”

Chris has everything going on. He has the voice! The Look!!! The Lyrics!!!And he cares about his band members spotlight as well. I will see Chris everytime he comes in town. There is not a show he puts on that would be a let down.

I have 6 Soundgarden cds, and I have all three Audioslave cds. I had his first solo cd, but it sounded like a bad Bryan Adams, and I gave it away.

So believe me I was there to see them at Lollapalooza 92, and I saw them again later that year.

I never said anything about his voice… I appreciate the correction on Cochise. I commented from what Chris had posted.

I just never liked Soundgarden, and the Super Unknown was the worst sellout album of all the Seattle bands…

The people who are giving me grief on here are probably the kind of people that liked St. Anger by the band formely known as Metallica, and think that The Black album was the first one they did, and not the beginning of the END for them…

Money doesn’t make you great, it just makes you popualar. I’ll take Paul Westerberg any day over Cornell… and I’ll go toe to toe with my musical knowledge with any of the people that are against me on this.

I missed the show, and I was bummed out about that, but I don’t go see concerts to hear the hits… I go to see the band perform that one song I may not have heard before, or heard in a long time… Kind of why Pearl Jam is the greatest band in the world… you could see them 10 nights in a row, and see 10 different concerts… Aerosmith, and Motley Crue should be in jail for prostitution because they are whoring their past for money now. I hate cover bands, and there is nothing more pathetic than the original band covering their own songs without any emotion, or life.

I have had the privilege of seeing Chris Cornell four times so far on this tour, and have to really beg to differ with this review of the show (and comments by people not even attending the show but dissing Chris anyway). I saw a similar show last week in San Francisco, and it was just so incredible to hear Say Hello 2 Heaven, Jesus Christ Pose, Sunshower, Let Me Drown, and more Soundgarden classics. People that think they are tired and old just didn’t appreciate the songs in the first place obviously. Chris sings them better now than he has in years, his voice is just freakin’ amazing. His band is so talented and fun, freakin’ Guitar center, give me a break. Yogi and Peter Thorn are not amateur musicians. They know what the hell they are doing. And the drummer Jason, he rules, did you see the drum solo on Spoonman? (Also he did a great one for Slaves and Bulldozers at another show I attended.) He completely kicks ass. This is one rockin’ show.

The band does a better job with the Audioslave songs than Audioslave did themselves. And as far as the Carry On material, I loved hearing the new songs Chris is doing on the tour. I only wish he were doing more of them. No Such Thing majorly rocks, Safe and Sound is such a soulful sweet ballad, and the Billie Jean cover is so sultry and sexy. The only one I haven’t seen live that is on the setlist is the love ballad Chris did for his wedding, Finally Forever. Give the guy a break, after rocking out for over 20 years and having the best voice in rock still, who can deny him singing a love song for his wife?

See this show if you get a chance, it is the concert highlight of 2007.

First of all, Superunknown is Soundgarden’s best work.
Second of all, the show was fantastic. His voice was right on, theater sounded great, band was relaxed. If he comes here again I will be in attendance.

mr bc beneke,

what are you doing in summer school?
you’re missing the 10 best days of summer
and a legend to boot in our best venue,
you can’t learn everything in a book I hope you know,
set your priorities straight and catch his show next chance,
I went on a mission and had free parking, free admission to the gig, free poster from the gig,
and met Chris by complete chance, and he signed some great stuff, complete free will and determination, and I had the chance to present him “The Deregulator’s” CD which he was more than happy to accept, check them out at skyfollow.com
and the show blew the grunge off the roof,
I dare you to meet up @ u-otter-stop-inn for karaoke, so we can assess your vocal talents,
get some common sense, and don’t feel the need to be a blind critic.

PEACE,
47 and still rockin’

PS: so what did you learn in class Monday night?

bc beneke aka “the diseased mind” according to your blog and believing yourself to make $250K/yr/writing,
please don’t bother us living in the real world trying to have a real conversation, there’s others planets in the solar system closer to your intellect, such as Uranus, I’ll pay you not to write here, which would further your yearly income,
PEACE

Look you clowns, I love Chris Cornell too & he did sound great at the Orpheum, but the band(with the exception of the drummer) do pretty much suck. I saw Chris at First Ave just a few months ago & I would say it’s probably a toss up to which night he was better. I wish Audioslave were still togther they were the best! The musicians he has now pretty much butcher all the Audioslave songs. I still love Chris & had a great time with my wife & son, it was his first concert age 12.

I saw Audioslave on both the ‘03 and ‘05 tours and have seen Chris play twice on this tour so far. I loved Audioslave, but come on - these guys in Chris’s new band may not have the big name profile but they are younger, keener and much more exciting musically. They can improvise, too, which is more than we can say of the ex-RATM guys.
