Cities 97 has landed a private Paul Westerberg concert at which he’ll discuss his songs and songwriting. It’s set for Sept. 23 at First Avenue.
There are several sponsors, including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (Gee, the Replacements haven’t even been nominated yet, though they are eligible.)

During the intermission, I made an interesting observation. THis was the first concert, or for that matter, event at the excel that there was long lines cueing from Mens bathroom, not the womans. Then it hit me. Rush fans here were about 20-1 men! a woman even said, “no waiting in the womans, go for it”. It doesnt matter, they produce songs so deep, with exquisite melody and soulfull lyrics. and all three are masters of their instruments. Alex lifeson uses his whammy bar A LOT! He even had a moog or something on the floor he tapped with his toes. what guitarist have you ever seen doing that! Geddys voice is still pre-adolesence high. and can you really think of a better jammin’ drum machine than Neil Peart? The only complaint I had was they didnt play any songs from 2112. I just closed my eyes and went far, far away.
