Well, my mom liked last year’s show better than Thursday’s. She said Tony was more talkative last year and interacted with fans more. That’s true; it was two weeks after his 80th birthday and people wanted to help him celebrate.

Mom agreed that Thursday’s show was much, much longer. Btw, it was only the fourth gig for pianist Roger Kellaway, who is filling in temporarily for Lee Musiker.

What did you think?

Here’s what the master crooner sang on Thursday:

1. Watch What Happens 2. They All Laughed 3. Maybe This Time 4. It’s a Sin to Tell a Lie 5. Cold, Cold Heart 6. I Got Rhythm 7. Just the Way You Look Tonight 8. Sing You Sinners 9. But Beautiful [next came 3 songs by his daughter Antonia: Night and Day, Everytime We Say Goodbye, Lucky Guy] 10. Just in Time 11. Boulevard of Broken Dreams 12. The Best Is Yet to Come 13. The Shadow of Your Smile 14. The Good Life 15. I Wanna Be Around 16. I Left My Heart in San Francisco 17. Steppin Out with My Baby 18. Speak Low 19. Who Cares [next came Rememberin’ You, piano instrumental that was the theme to TV’s “All in the Family” performed by Roger Kellaway, who wrote it] 20. Just a Little Street 21. In a Mellow Tone 22. It Don’t Mean a Thing 23. There Will Never Be Another You 24. Fly Me to the Moon 25. How Do You Keep the Music Playing

Since I missed last year’s concert, I was grateful to see Mr. Bennett this year. He was awesome and did remarkably well for an 81 year old singing for almost 2 hours. His band members were excellent, but his daughter really stunk up the place. She was a beautiful girl, but we as the audience only indulged it for the love of Tony. My 80 year old mother-in-law will talk about it for months.

Where’s your review? I attended the concert and thought it was great! I opened the paper and it said to check the wbsite for a review but I see none. It’s puzzling, for a great entertainer to come to a new venue and not a word is published. The new Mystic Lake theater is also terrificand I’d like to see more great acts booked there. It’s only 20 minutes from my home in Burnsville so it’s exciting to see somrthing like this so close- we have the zoo in Summer, and now this-super!
