Black Keys will unlock Entry Fri
Posted on April 9th, 2008 – 12:06 PMBy Chris Riemenschneider
With their First Ave gig later that night long since sold out, the Black Keys‘ label has booked the duo an extra gig Friday afternoon next door in the Entry. Doors are listed at 4:30 p.m., so let’s go ahead and call it a happy hour gig. Tickets are being given away through the Electric Fetus, Current (89.3), City Pages and 93x (does 93X even play the Keys?!). Anyway, about 200 tix were made available, so you might be able to luck into them. Sounds cool, but I hope that doesn’t mean Dan and Patrick are gonna be winded by the time they take the main room stage.

93X has had “Your Touch” in heavy rotation for the last year or so. I heard the show(s) was/were fantastic — did you wind up at either show, Chris?
they were good, but the new stuff other than I Got Mine and Strange Times suffered
they really could stand to employ a 3rd touring member on bass/keys
the version of Ocean & Streams live sounds pretty pedestrian compared to the studio version, which might be their best song to date.
I came down with the flu on Thu night just before heading out to Tapes N Tapes, and I decided I’d rather keep puking in my toilet at home than in the toilets at First Ave (oh, the horror!) on Fri.
Having seen the Keys at SXSW, I agree with Jeff that adding a third member might finally be merited. I’ve also thought the same thing with the White Stripes… these bands can do the duo thing for half the show and still show off “That Special Thing,” but then bring out the third person here and there as needed without ruining the vibe.
