i'm probably gonna head down to Chicago for the last 2 shows of the Tour the weekend after the Mpls show as well.

if it wasn't in the middle of the week i'd see the Omaha show in August as well.

HoodRat.... NO OPENERS

The entire tour minus Red Rocks is "An Evening With My Morning Jacket"

meaning 2.5-3+ hours of nothing but MMJ

as for MMJ getting too big, sorry Curtis, those days are long long gone.

it's not like they made some huge jump though... they went from the Entry in early '02 (only local MMJ headlining gig i've missed), to opening for Beth Orton at the Fine Line a few months later, then opening for Guided By Voices at First Ave, to a handful of Ascot Room shows (still my favorite MMJ shows i think), to 2 shows at the Quest.

they've already played Roy Wilkins before (opening for Foo Fighters), and while i didn't go, my friends who did said they filled the place more than adequately.

i saww the same show Chris did down at SXSW, and while it was far from the best set i've seen MMJ do, it proved to me that they belong in larger venues.

the new album, while very good, isn't likely to be a huge hit or anything, just another solid addition to their already fantastic catalog, but on their live show prowess alone, this band will only get more and more fans out to their shows.

No word on opener but it definitely won't be the Black Keys. Their dates with the Keys end long before Mpls (that Red Rocks pairing is almost road-trip worthy, if gas isn't $5/gallon by then).

MMJ are actually too big for the Orpheum as it is. I bet the show sells out fast. Northrop Auditorium would've been OK, but after that ... the Myth or Roy Wilkins are the next step up! Kudos to the local promoters for keeping them in a theater.

They're doing a late-night set at Bonnaroo this year that I'm guessing will be nothing short of epic. I can't wait.

Absolutely agree, this will most likely be one of the best, if not the best, shows of the year (going to be hard to top Mobius Band/Black Kids/Cut Copy at the Entry last week though). I'm basing my prediction off of the performance at Coachella. Simply amazing set and their stage presence was outstanding! They really used their pre-Roger Waters slot to wow the thousands watching.

Have to agree again though with the post by Curtis...it would really be a disappointment to see this band playing anything larger than the Orpheum.

Please stop buzzing about this band or I fear they will playing the Target Center soon. I first saw them in the Ascot Room (upstairs at the Quest) and don't want to go any bigger than one of our local theaters!
