The Electric Fetus just announced today that both Atmosphere and Brother Ali will perform at their Minneapolis location next Tuesday, June 10, at 9:30 p.m. to kick off the store’s 40th anniversary celebrations. Passes are being given out for free at the store the morning of June 10 and are limited to 350 people. Slug used to work at the Fetus, but the Rhymesayers crew has always been big proponents of indie stores (they own one themselves!).
This is the first of a series of in-store gigs this week at the Minneapolis store, 2000 4th Av. S. Haley Bonar will be there June 11 at 7 p.m., followed by Roma di Luna on June 12 at 7 p.m., Charlie Parr on June 13 at 3 p.m., the Teddy Bear Band (kids dig ‘em!) on June 14 at 10 a.m. and a nice jazz pairing on June 15 with Donald Washington at 2 p.m. and the James Buckley Trio at 4. Sales, giveaways and other reasons to shop for records are going on at the Fetus all this month.
The 40th celebration will culminate with a show next Friday, June 13, at First Avenue with acts from each of the store’s decades in business (’60s-’00s): Tony Glover & V3, the Hypsterz, the New Standards, Polara and Doomtree, plus more bands in the Entry. Sounds like a blast. Tickets are $5 advance or $10 at the door. You know where you can buy them.
