Darius Rucker @ Cabooze
Posted on September 24th, 2008 – 1:04 AMBy Jon Bream
He wore a cowboy hat at the MN Zoo this summer with Hootie & the Blowfish but a Nike cap for his country debut at the Cabooze on Tue. Who cares? The 75-minute show was a hoot. Rucker was in great spirits, celebrating his newly crowned No. 1 country album by toasting with Jack Daniels and last week’s No. 1 single with another shot of Jack. He even introduced a couple of his new sidemen as having the surname “Rucker.”
He told me before the concert that he hopes to add a lap steel guitar player to the band. The Cabooze was the group’s fifth gig. Look for the interview soon.
Here is Darius’ set list from Tuesday night:
1. Forever Road 2. Alright 3. History in the Making 4. ??? 5. Let Her Cry 6. Learn to Live 7. It Won’t Be Like This for Long 8. Family Tradition 9. Drinkin and Dialin 10. If I Had Wings 11. Be Wary of a Woman 12. Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It 13. Hold My Hand ENCORE 14. You Never Even Call Me By My Name 15. Only Wanna Be with You ENCORE 16. Keep Your Hands to Yourself

Personally, I didn’t care for it.
I thought the music was great. If you don’t like country and you were expecting more “Hootie” then you might not have liked it. I bought his CD when it was released Sept 16th. I watch CMT countdown every weekend and saw the video “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It” along with my daughter (actress) and her friends from the “Bold and Beautiful” soap opera and they all enjoyed it and all have purchased the CD already.
Didn’t care for that fellas music at all.
