Nine Inch Nails at Target Center

With eight albums under his belt now (including a killer double-album), Trent Reznor has quite the discography to pick and choose from. I thought he made a lot of cool choices tonight. “The Wretched” was great to hear, and so was “Piggy.” The extra-stripped-down version of “Hurt” also turned out to be really powerful — who knew an NIN concert could ever be that quiet? Trent was cool to apologize for having to postpone the show in August, and I think he made it up to us by inserting “Down in It” in the set list. They’ve only played it a few times on tour all year.
With the band going on for over two hours (and me having a full review to write on deadline), I’m not sure this is an entirely correct set list, but here’s what I have:
1,000,000 / Letting You / Discipline / March of the Pigs / Head Down / The Frail / The Wretched / Closer / Gave Up / The Warning / The Great Destroyer / 5 Ghosts I / 21 Ghosts III / 19 Ghosts III / Piggy / The Greater Good / Pinion / Wish / Terrible Lie / Survivalism / 31 Ghosts IV / Only / Down in It / Head Like a Hole
ENCORE: Echoplex / Good Soldier / Hurt / In This Twilight

add 999,999 for the start. add reptile after Echoplex.
I thought he made a lot of great choices. It was fantastic to hear such a variety of songs from the older albums in his catalog, the band really nailed their performance (no pun intended) and I thought the close of the show, with the departure of each band member individually, was very nicely done. Great show. Well worth the wait.
The concert was well worth it, the light show was amazing. The faceless mass around me was a little upset “Hand That Feeds” wasn’t on the list, personally I was upset that “Sin” didn’t make the cut.
NIN never fails to impress - though I thought the stunt in August was unprofessional. They played the next day for God’s sake. Otherwise, I thought NIN showed why they’re one of the best live acts around - the absolutely ridiculous light show along with the bank being tight all the way through. Trent’s the man. Great set list - Terrible Lie was the highlight for me.
This is probably the best show I have seen since tool in 2002. Absolutely amazing visuals and a great set list to match. It was great to see that it wasn’t really a “greatest hits” show and not a lot was played from either “year zero” or “with teeth”. If I had to insert one more recent song it would have been “All the Love in the World”. Overall… A++
