Oasis & Ryan Adams set lists

liam.jpgI didn’t realize how lackluster the show really was until I crossed the street after filing my review, catching the last 40 minutes of the Black Crowes at First Ave. They were loose, lively, soulful and animated. The two bands at the Target Center were stiff, uninspired and by-the-numbers. Granted, there’s no comparison of venues, especially when the Target Center is three-quarters empty (”Echooooo!”). But that’s all the more reason Oasis and Adams should’ve worked on engaging the crowd better. I also simply thought both bands made bad setlist choices, although the must-have Oasis favorites like “Morning Glory,” “Supersonic,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger” didn’t disappoint. It’s funny how it seemed fine when Liam was just standing there like a frozen toad during those classic songs, but on the more recent, lesser songs his apathy/lethargy/laziness seemed all the more heightened and annoying.

RYAN & THE CARDINALS: Cobwebs / Crossed Out Name / Everybody Knows / When the Stars Go Blue / Fix It / Let It Ride / Off Broadway / Go Easy / Sink Ships / Born Into a Light / I Taught Myself How to Grow Old / Two / Natural Ghost / Magick

You are right on this one Chris. The Crowes played a fun and animated set. I was at the State Fair show a few months back, this show really contrasted what the club experience brings to a band like this. Focused ( except when a drunk dude stopped the second song, thanks Rich Robinson for yelling at the guy to “knock it off”) soulfull, and powerfull ( Chris Robinson was in fine voice)
