Celine @ Target Center

Before the concert started Thursday, I was struck by the lack of electricity in the sell-out crowd at Target Center. Was it the weather? the economy? the postponement of the Oct. 30 show? or that lame opening musical impressionistic Gordie Brown? (Liked his Garth Brooks bit but not much else.)

Celine Dion was in fine form in an ambitious and glitzy in-the-round production that worked because she injected plenty of her personality (more camp than in the past) and showed a little unexpected spontaneity (she broke into “Purple Rain”). I appreciated some of the softer songs and, of course, the fans loved her athletic vocal workouts. Like a romance novel with a Fabio-like character on the cover, Celine knows how to deliver over-the-top romantic emotion in an entertaining fashion.

Here is her set list:

1. I Drove All Night (Cyndi Lauper song) 2. Power of Love 3. Taking Chances 4. It’s All Coming Back to Me 5. Because You Loved Me 6. To Love You More  (flamenco segment by band) 7. Eyes on Me 8. All By Myself (the Eric Carmen hit) 9. I’m Alive 10. Shadow of Love 11. Just Fade Away 12. I’m Your Angel 13. Alone (the Heart hit) 14. Pour Que Tu M’aimes encore 15.My Love 16. My Prayer (w Andrea Bocelli on video screen) (soul medley by band) 17. It’s a Man’s Man’s man’s World (the early James Brown hit) 18. Love Can Move Mountains  1st ENCORE 19. River Deep, Mountain High (the Ike & Tina Turner smash) 2nd ENCORE 2 20. My Heart Will Go On

What did you think of the show? Please post your comments here:

If you doubt how talented she is, just ask her.

She’s so humble.

What a gift………..she was amazing. I didn’t want the night to end. Wish she would have thrown in a few Christmas songs.

Love the energy she projected on stage to the crowd. Was an older crowd (I think the average age was around 45-50 yrs. old) so most likely the reason for the low electricity in the crowd. Would of loved it if it went on an hour longer… or more. She is the person that all other performers should set their standards with. Such a humble performer, never have I seen a top performer like her enter and exit the stage by going through the crowd so she could meet and greet some of the fans that she appreciates and treasures. If she comes back, we will be there with or own camera this time. Thank you, Celine for the wonderful evening. You made our MN winter alot warmer.

I am still in a high note mood from the concert at the United Center in Chicago just before the Minneapolis one! The crowd in the windy city was indeed electric and pumped, having driven through a blizzard from Iowa to get there, commuting by train from the suburbs and arriving back at my friend’s house at 2 AM following the performance! Don’t understand the less than exciting review of the Minnesota gig. Set list looks identical. Also thought Gordie Brown was hilarious! Get a life, Jon Bream, lighten up!

We’ve always liked Celine, and own all of her music CD’s. It was a real treat to see her in person and watch her perform!
We liked it when she spoke to the crowd and seemed so down to earth. She definitely is a World Class performer!!
We hope to see her perform again someday!
Thank-you Celine for a night we will always remember!

THE CONCERT WAS FANTASTIC. CELINE WAS IN
FINE FORM AS SHE WAS IN LAS VEGAS. THE TECHNICAL PORTION OF THE SHOW WAS FLAWLESS. AS FOR THE FIST PUMPING THAT YOU NOTICED AT THE END OF THE NUMBERS, THAT IS A SIGNAL FOR THE BAND. IT IS NOTHING MORE THAN TO LET THEM KNOW TO END THE SONG. OTHER PERFORMERS SUCH AS
NEIL DIAMOND ALSO USE IT ALTHOUGH MAYBE
NOT AS EXTREME. ALL IN ALL, IT WAS WORTH THE POSTPONEMENT. SHE IS A FANTASTIC PERFORMER AND AS HER 2ND ENCORE SAYS MY HEART WILL GO ON FOREEVER
WHEN IT COMES TO ENJOYING ANYTHING ABOUT
CELINE DION.
