Little Big Town, Zac Brown @ Mystic Lake Casino

Little Big Town, winners as a perennial opening act, pleased the sell-out crowd Saturday night at Mystic Showroom. But, as my review stated, the impressive vocal quartet needs more pizzaz to step up as a country-music headliner. Leave the democracy in the dressing room and let Jimi Westbrook be the star onstage and the others his supporting cast. Worked for Alabama, works for Dixie Chicks and Rascal Flatts. Would work to have Jimi as Mayor of Little Big Town.
Zac Brown certainly commanded the stage with his robust voice, Chesney-meets-Alabama sensibilities and guitar picking. That was a convincing, I-want-to-hear-more opening set.
Here are the set lists:
Little Big Town: 1. Good Lord Willing 2. Good as Gone 3. Bones/The Chain (Fleetwood Mac) 4. Little More You 5. Fine Line 6. Those Memories 7. You’re Gonna Love Me 8. Bring It on Home 9. Welcome to the Family 10. Wounded 11. Lost/Fix You 12. I’m with the Band 13. Novocaine 14. Firebird Fly 15. Boondocks Encore 16. Life in a Northern Town (Dream Academy) 17. Heartache Tonight (Eagles)
Zac Brown Band: 1. The Whiskey’s Gone but I Ain’t Leavin (????) 2. Different Kind of Fine 3. Devil Went Down to Georgia (Charlie Daniels) 4. Whatever It Is 5. Sic Em on a Chicken 6. Toes 7. Highway 20 Ride 8. Where the Boat Leaves From/One Love (Bob Marley) 9. Chicken Fried
