Summer of Tool? And other Lollapalooza rumors

It sounds like Tool are pretty well confirmed as one of the headliners of this year’s Lollapalooza (Aug. 7-9 in Chicago’s Grant Park). Maynard and the boys were also just announced as the big act at Denver’s Mile High festival, (July 18-19), along with Widespread Panic, Ben Harper and the Fray. For those of you not up on geography, Minneapolis is sort of between Chicago and Denver, and those fests are three weeks apart. So a local date is certainly a possibility, although Lolla organizers have been known to encorce exclusive agreements prohibiting acts from performing July-August as far away as MN.
In addition to Tool, other names being thrown around as likely Lolla performers are the Beastie Boys, Jane’s Addiction, Depeche Mode, the Killers and Kings of Leon. I personally only care about seeing two of those acts, but that’s a pretty good lineup commercially. Look for the official announcement soon. “Early-bird” tickets go on sale Tuesday.
