Hold Steady, Moz events tonight in the Entry

Two out-of-the-ordinary FREE events in one night tonight at the 7th Street Entry…
1. The Hold Steady’s new DVD documentary, “A Positive Rage,” will be screened at 9 p.m. The DVD is sold/packaged with the new live album of the same name, which goes on sale tomorrow. Regardless, it should be fun to see it in the club with other fans. I watched it over the weekend and found it to be a pretty conventional look at a band on the rise, but of course there are a lot of unconventional things about this particular band that make it interesting (at least to the fans who appreciate them), particularly its love for what it does. The footage is from the tour right after “Boys and Girls in America” came out in 2006, and it culminates with a sold-out stop at First Ave. The live album, however, was recorded on the “Stay Positive” tour last year at the Metro in Chicago … probably a more, um, sober experience than a First Ave show. Killer stuff, of course.
2. A Morrissey after-party will follow the Hold Steady screening and the Moz’s concert around the corner at the State, hosted by Brit-happy local DJ Jake Rudh, probably starting around 11. They’ll be showing videos and giving out Moz-related prizes (a package of Xanax maybe?).
