Kiss — if you opt to refer to the current Ace Frehley- and Peter Criss-less lineup by that name – are rallying the Army again. They’re holding an online competition to see which cities can drum up the most votes to bring them back to town in concert. They’re even claiming to take per-capita/population count into consideration. They’re calling it the “first-ever fan-routed tour.” Naysayers might call it the “let’s see who still gives a crap tour.” Anyway, no matter what, these guys still remain savvy marketeers. You can see a video about the contest on their website, and click here to vote.

I really used to love KISS when I was young — I saw them in ‘76, ‘77, ‘79, ‘83, ‘86 and I saw them on the last “reunion” tour with the 4 original members. Great show, mediocre new music, spotty musical peformances. They should have said farewell and hung it up after nearly 30 years, especially following the 3 DVD box sets (which are great, by the way).

These days, KISS is more a brand name than a band name…
