Pretenders, Gaslight gigs relocating

If you didn’t already see the news story, the Pretenders’ Aug. 19 show with Cat Power at the Minnesota Zoo is being moved — probably to the Orpheum Theatre — after Chrissie Hynde found out that the animals at the zoo’s Family Farm area go on to the slaughterhouse. I want to insert a “no duh” here, but I do admire Hynde for her convictions.

Meanwhile, the Gaslight Anthem’s management must’ve heard that Epic wasn’t a good fit for the blue-collar Jersey band (see previous post). The Oct. 3 show will now be at the Cabooze. Too bad it’ll be too late in the season to use the outdoor stage there, but either way it’s definitely a better-suited venue (instead of feeling like I need to dress up, I might need to dress down now). The Cabooze holds about 1,200, so still plenty of room for everyone.
