I’m talking about Cocaine the band, of course! I caught them this past weekend at the Cabooze. It had to be the most attention-grabbing name on the club’s marquee since Nashville Pussy played there.

Here are a couple more photos from the show, which really tell you most of what you need to know about the band: Their kickdrum logo and Flying V; and the tattooed, Steven Tyler-copping lead singer in action. The guy’s name? Benny Caine, dude! Musically, the local quintet played a pretty derivative but very adpet and lively brand of vaguely bluesy ’70s-’80s hard-rock a la early Aerosmith, or sleazy metal of the “Appetite” variety. Hear clips on their MySpace page. It was fun for a while. But then, um, the high wore off.
