Silversun Pickups will perform at the State Theatre on Aug. 10 with two very noteworthy openers, Manchester Orchestra and Cage the Elephant. Tickets ($29) go on sale Saturday at noon. Another band with a new album I’m really digging, Dinosaur Jr. will be at First Ave on Nov. 18. If you haven’t seen their new video yet, click here, it’s pretty hilarious. Also, look for the return of Daniel Johnston to First Ave on Aug. And two late-80s favorites will be marking the anniversaries of their most legendary albums at First Ave: De La Soul on Aug. 27 (”3 Feet High and Rising,” its 20th) and the Cult on Sept. 1 (”Love,” 25th).

Two from Live Nation that go on sale Saturday: Pet Shop Boys playing an “evening with” show (longer set, no opener) at the State on Sept. 16; and Snow Patrol at Myth on Sept. 10 with the I-hope-teenage-girls-show-up opening band of choice, Plain White T’s.
