Our favorite indie-rock star from Eau Claire, Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), has teamed with his fellow Wisconsinites from the group Collections of Colonies of Bees – not to be confused with Mouthful or Band or Muzzle of Bees – to create a new band called the Volcano Choir, which will issue a debut album called “Unmap” on Jagjaguwar Records on Sept. 21. Actually, the project is not all that new. Vernon reportedly started writing and recording with those guys back in 2005 right after his old band DeYarmond Edison toured with them (before he made his Bon Iver record). Can’t wait to hear what it sounds like. In the meantime, Vernon is spending the summer as Bon Iver mostly playing festivals, including Glastonbury in England this weekend.
