Forget that robotic voice. Bob Dylan will give you directions home on your GPS. Or so he said on his Theme Time Radio Hour this week.
He is negotiating with two car companies to provide the voice for their GPS. (Insert your Highway 61, positively 4th St. or ‘no direction home’ joke here.)
Other famous voices who have provided directions on navigations systems include Kim Cattrall, John Cleese and Homer Simpson.

You don’t have to drive a Harley or a pickup, drink Jim Beam or beer, or wear a cowboy hat or backward ball cap to appreciate what Kid Rock did at the State Fair on Saturday.
I’ve seen him looser and wilder, and he may have seemed on cruise control (he was in Minnesota for less than four hours for his 95 minute show). But he still put on a hellaciously entertaining show, complete with flamethrowers, a giant American flag and stripping off his white T-shirt for the encore on an unseasonably cool Minnesota night.
Click here to read the full review. Here is Kid Rock’s set list:
Rock n Roll Jesus/Son of Detroit/Tumbling Dice/ You Never Met a M-F Quite Like Me/American Bad Ass/Lowlife w/ Keep Your Hands to Yourself/Cocky/All Summer Long/Amen/ Rock ‘n’ Roll Pain Train w/Everyday People/Cowboy w Dukes of Hazzard theme/Only God Knows Why/Wastin’ Time/Picture/So Hott w Cat Scratch Fever/Bawitdaba
Skynyrd’s set:
Skynyrd Nation (new song from God & Guns, due 9/29)/Saturday Night Special/Gimme Back My Bullets/What’s Your Name/That Smell/I Know a Little/Simple Man/Still Unbroken (from God & Guns)/Gimme Three Steps/Call Me the Breeze/Sweet Home Alabama ENCORE Free Bird

There are very few shows at First Ave where I expect to need earplugs, and even less I ever have to wait in line for the men’s restroom. Motörhead once again proved the exception on both counts, especially the noise level. Drummer Mikkey Dee’s double-kick kit filled up a quarter of the stage, and the amps and p.a. equipment took up about half. In metal, size still matters.
Playing their first show on a six-week tour with the Rev. Horton Heat, Lemmy and Co. seemed to be in high spirits. You know, for gruff old British metal guys. Lemmy sounded genuine when he twice remarked “how great the crowds always are here.” The band threw a few surprises to keep it interesting, such as the nuggets from the 1983 album “Another Perfect Day” and the (briefly) unplugged encore. Here’s the set list:
Iron Fist / Stay Clean / Be My Baby / Rock Out / Metropolis / Over the Top / ?? / I Got Mine / The Thousand Names of God / Another Perfect Day / In the Name of Tragedy / Just ‘Cos You Got the Power / Going to Brazil / Killed by Death / Bomber
ENCORE: Whorehouse Blues (acoustic!, with Mikkey and Phil on guitars and Lemmy on harmonica) / Ace of Spades /Overkill
The Rev. Horton Heat played an abbreviated version of his/their usual set, with “400 Bucks” and “Psychobilly Freakout” among the highlights and the crowd chanting along to “Jimbo Song.” It seems a good chunk of the audience was there to see him/them, too.

Even though he has three albums and three No. 1 country songs, Jason Aldean managed to play for only 70 minutes on Friday at the Fair. And that included three cover songs.
This country star from Macon, Ga., loves his classic rock, as evidenced by his covers of Tom Petty and Bryan Adams (with whom he teamed for an episode of CMT Crossroads) and his sidemen’s guitar licks evoking AC/DC, the Stones, Petty and others. He also rocked on his country hits, especially “Johnny Cash,” “She’s Country” and “Hicktown.”

Here is Aldean’s set list from Friday:
Wide Open/Crazy Town/Amarillo Sky/Why/I Won’t Back Down (Tom Petty)/Big Green Tractor/I Break Everything I Touch/Grown Woman/Johnny Cash/Relentless/Asphalt Cowboy/Laughed Until We Cried/I Use What I Got/She’s Country/Hicktown ENCORE Heaven (Bryan Adams)/Summer of 69 (Bryan Adams)

How emotional was it for Bonnie Raitt at the State Fair on Thursday?
She cried during the fireworks after her show, she told me a short time later. She said it was particularly tough on Wednesday when she went on Lake Minnetonka with a bunch of friends of her older brother, Twin Cities producer Steve Raitt, who died in April of brain cancer.
She admitted that there were a couple moments onstage Thursday where she had to summon Steve for emotional rescue to get through a poignant song. She said she’d experienced a similar type thing when her father, Broadway star John Raitt, had died and she had to sing shortly after his passing. She merely thought of him when she was overcome with emotion.
During the fair concert, Raitt gave shout outs to some of Steve’s friends, including drummer Bobby Vandell, and to her many Minnesota friends, including Willie Murphy, Tony Glover and John Koerner.
Raitt’s teaming with longtime friend but first-time tourmate Taj Mahal made the structure of the evening different. He and his band opened (loved the swinging instrumental “Seven Eleven” and when he said “Fishin’ Blues” should be the Minnesota state song), then Raitt and her band performed; Taj sat in with her on a couple of acoustic numbers and then he and his band joined her for seven songs at the end.
Here is Raitt’s set list:
Sho Do/Thing Called Love/Nick of Time/Your Good Thing Is About to End/Good Man Good Woman/Satisfied (acoustic w Taj)/Done Changed My Way of Living (w Taj)/Angel from Montgomery/I Will Not Be Broken/Something to Talk About/Love Sneakin’ Up on You/I Can’t Make You Love Me BOTH BANDS COMBINED Tramp with Scratch My Back/She Felt Too Good/She Caught the Katy/Wah She Go Do/Love So Strong/Gnawin’ on It/ Comin’ Home
