Moving on to girls’ basketball

The seeds have been set for the 4A and 3A state tournaments in girls’ basketball (2A and 1A do not seed). 4A, 3A and 2A open play Wednesday and 1A kicks off their games Thursday.Here are the first-round pairings:

4A
#1 Minneapolis South vs. #8 Owatonna
#4 Osseo vs. #5 Chaska
#3 St. Paul Central vs. #6 St. Cloud Tech
#2 Eastiew vs. #7 St. Francis

3A
#1 DeLaSalle vs. #8 Austin

Wrenshall, a town of ~300 with a k-12 school is sending their first athletes to state ever. Gotta cheer for that. Good luck Wrens!

Note:To U of M coach Pam Borton, don’t let Taylor Hill (Mpls. South High) leave state! She’s the best player I’ve seen in a long while.

Corey - I’ll be blogging from the Class 4A quarterfinals today. If it’s not 4A you’re looking for, try the state high school league site (mshsl.org) - they may be posting live stats today.
