Getting set for Class 4A girls’ basketball quarterfinals
Posted on March 12th, 2008 – 9:47 AMBy Jon Marthaler
Greetings from Target Center! I’m down courtside, listening to the strains of the Owatonna pep band (”Dirty Deeds”, AC/DC) and watching for wayward basketballs during warmup drills. (Errant equipment was not a problem for the media at the hockey tournaments.) I’ll be with you throughout today’s Class 4A quarterfinals.
We’re approaching the tipoff between Owatonna and Minneapolis South; there’s a mass of blue and white-clad fans behind me and to my left, and nothing but orange and black to my right. The Huskies, here for the first time since 2001, are led by senior guard Lauren Barber, who’s scoring 15.2 per game this year. South, the #1-seeded Section 6 champions, is here for the second straight year, and is led by all-everything junior Tayler Hill, who’s scoring 23 points a night.
Or, in this case, a morning.  We’re about fifteen minutes from game time  Â
