10:25 PM - A few more scores trickling in to Star Tribune World HQ…. - It was 14-14 midway through the second quarter, but Eden Prairie pulled away from Bloomington Jefferson from there on, winning 38-14.  Sam Gotham threw three touchdowns for the Eagles; Moses Alipate led the Jaguars with 185 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

- Minnetonka started on the right foot, beating Rochester Mayo 48-13.

Coon Rapids held on for the upset at #6 Champlin Park, winning 29-20.

10:02 PM - Michael Rand checking in from Hamline, where Hibbing has just snapped a 17-game losing streak that dated back to early in the 2006 season by defeating St. Agnes 13-6. Hibbing broke a 6-6 tie on a 40-yard TD connection from Ryan Johnson to Mike Belich with 1:06 to play in the game. Watching Hibbing celebrate in the end zone — particularly the seniors — was a sight to behold.

9:15 PM - Stephen-Argyle is off and running for the year, as it rolled over Ada-Borup 41-8. That’s the Storm’s 68th consecutive victory; they have won five straight state titles in nine-man.

And there’s one early score from the Minneapolis City Conference, as Southwest beat Roosevelt, 48-0. Sophomore running back Reggie Gandy was the star, scoring three touchdowns and going over the century mark both rushing and receiving. If you’ve got others, leave them in the comments below.

scores.JPGIt’s that time again, and it feels good. Prep football games across the state kick off tonight, and so does a new game night blogging feature here at the Star Tribune. Jon Marthaler, whom you might remember from his insane blogging output from many of the fall and winter state tournaments, will be updating this blog post with scores and highlights as they come in starting around 9 tonight and (hopefully) every other football game night this season. You are also encouraged, in the comments, to contribute to the discussion if you were out at a game and have insights to share. In addition, check out our new photo and video uploading feature, where you can send us images from the games you were out at.Thanks, and we hope you enjoy the season.
