5A Final: Blaine 28, Cretin-Derham Hall 27, OT

Blaine scored on their first play of overtime, with RB Deven King sprinting in for the score.  Marcus Binns replied on CDH’s second play, taking a pitch and hustling through the right side of the line for the score.

The Raiders went for two, and Mark Alt rolled right and tried to run it in himself - but was upended on the one-yard line.

It’s a madhouse here.  Blaine players are everywhere. Holy cow, what a game.

I’ll be back tomorrow morning, bright and early at 8:00 a.m., to bring you Kittson County Central vs. Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley in Nine-Man.

But frankly, I don’t know if anything tomorrow can top this.

why would cretin go for 2? You put the whole season and a possible state title on the line in 1 play when you can easily just kick the extra point. I guess its just one of those things; if you make it the coach is a hero, if not, people will question that decision for a long time.

this is to every writer that picked against blaine, i told everyone! this team finds a way to get it done and thats the way the program has always been. for them to finish 3-7 last year and bounce back like this to the state title game speaks of the great coaching at this school. and the nwsc is finally showing folks what they have been missing every fall.

Why aren’t these games on FSN? I’m guessing Classic Twins games could wait.

It was an exciting but ragged game.
It is nice to see a NWSC team flex some muscle, and Blaine cant be accused of taking the back door to the title game.
Peterson really is a hard guy to bring down.
And #3 is ferocious, thats for sure.

#3 is named Tobi Saporu. and yeah, he is very intense and in attack mode at inside linebacker. should be a pretty large recruit that the U should try and snag

Congrats to Blaine. Looks like the transition to the spread offense has really paid off. The system works when you have a mobile QB like Peterson

Mattjl - I read in today’s paper Cretin went for two because coach thought team could not stop Blaine offense
