End 3rd: DeLaSalle 18, New London-Spicer 14

You had to know that this one wasn’t going to end 14-6.
DeLaSalle is finally starting to move the ball with regularity - but with the two big plays they got in the third quarter, they didn’t really even need to put together sustained drives. First, tailback Evan Williams scampered 67 yards to the end zone; then, after stopping New London-Spicer on the next possession, QB Michael Van Leer finally got a chance to get free on a punt return - and made the most of it, going 51 yards and cutting back all the way across the field for another score.
On the other side of the ball, NLS has done big heaps of nothing offensively in the second half, unless you count four punts. The Wildcats seemed to dominate both offensively and defensively in the first quarter, but right now, it seems that the tables may be turning. The Islanders have some serious athletes - Williams, Van Leer, Donzell Bell - and those guys are finally finding some room to run. And the DeLaSalle defense has completely stuffed the New London-Spicer offense.
