Houston and Ada-Borup just kicked off to get the 2008 state football semifinals underway. It’s a festive and raucous Nine-man environment, as one would expect. This is just the start of the first of back-to-back 15 hour days of wall-to-wall football. Jon Marthaler will be taking you through the day with thoughts, insights and perhaps even a few amusing jokes. Also look for plenty of multimedia features on the main preps page, www.startribune.com/preps.

UPDATE: Jon Marthaler here - wireless problems are solved, and I’m ready to go.  (Nobody would have noticed, except Rand - who had my pass - showed up late.  He’s actually blaming his dog for this, but I’m not buying it.)

Houston has the early 7-0 lead, has a couple of huge defensive stops, and just hit a 41-yard flea-flicker… and as I type this, goes into the end zone again.  That’s an early 14-0 lead for the Hurricanes, right there - the Ada-Borup fans on the near side look a little shell-shocked.
