Conference realignment: What do you think?

Change is coming to the lineup of high school conferences in the metro, and currently there is no plan for what the future might hold. The Star Tribune’s John Millea has come up with one proposal, which can act as a starting point for high school decision-makers as they attempt to put together a new conference framework.
John’s plan calls for these major changes: 1) dissolve the Lake Conference; 2) Form a new Dakota Conference with seven Lake teams plus Farmington from the Missota; 3) Form a new Suburban West Conference with Edina, Hopkins, Minnetonka and Wayzata from the Classic Lake (which will cease to exist in the fall of 2010) and Eden Prairie, Bloomington Kennedy and Bloomington Jefferson from the Lake; 4) move Chaska and its sister school, Chanhassen (which will open in 2009), from the Lake to the Missota to replace Farmington and Hutchinson (which is expected to join the Wright County); 5) Armstrong, the remaining Classic Lake school, joins the North Suburban.
What do you think of this plan? Do you have other ideas for even more changes involving other parts of the metro area? We’d like to hear your thoughts in the comments. (To refresh your memories, here is a link to a spot where you can find how the conferences currently are aligned).
