Commuting on the prep beat

If you were on Twin Cities freeways late this afternoon and early this evening, I feel your pain.

My target tonight was a girls’ basketball game, Tartan at Hopkins. The end result was an On Preps column about Hopkins coach Brian Cosgriff (you can read it by clicking here). But getting there was tougher than I thought it would be.

The drive from my house to Hopkins High School normally takes 30 minutes or a little more. Today it was a 90-minute trip. And I had the easy ride. It took the school bus carrying the Tartan team three hours to get to Hopkins. That’s right, three hours to travel across the metro.

I know it was snowing, but geez. This was just silly.Â
