After the first day of the Minnesota Christmas wrestling tournament in Rochester, Apple Valley and Simley are tied for the team lead. The Eagles and Spartans are the defending state champs and hold the No. 1 ranking in Class 3A and 2A, respectively.

The action is scheduled to resume Saturday at 9:30 a.m and the championship round is slated for 4:30. I’m planning to head down there for Saturday’s action, but I’m keeping an eye on the weather. I would hate to miss the tournament, because it is one of the best events on the high school calendar.
