Zach Goring, a 1995 Apple Valley graduate who has been an assistant boys’ basketball coach there for seven years, was named head coach today. He replaces Mike Fritze, who resigned from the position in April but remains as the Eagles’ head football coach.
Goring is Apple Valley’s career leader in assists. During his junior and senior seasons his teams won Lake Conference titles and he was named all-conference both seasons. He attended St. Olaf College for one year before transferring to St. Cloud State. As a senior at St. Cloudf State, Goring helped lead the Huskies to the NCAA Division II tournament.
