Tartan shortstop Ryan Abrahamson, who was PROFILED in today’s Star Tribune as the Metro Player of the Year, was taken by the Twins today in the 40th round of the draft. As pointed out in the story, the Twins brought Abrahamson into the Metrodome for batting practice last week, and he put on an impressive show.

He has signed to play baseball with the Gophers, and I expect he will take that route. If so, he will be eligible for the draft again three years from now.

Smart kid, if he goes the collegiate route and makes the best of his education and then comes to the Twins.

How long do they get to decide on signing?

Draftees can sign until they attend their first college class. Once they hit the classroom, they are college kids and can’t be drafted again for three years.
