Lake Conference has received official notification
Posted on June 26th, 2009 – 9:39 AMBy John Millea
The MSHSL has officially notified the Lake Conference that the four Classic Lake Conference schools have been placed into the Lake. A letter from MSHSL executive director Dave Stead to Lake officials is being circulated around the league today.
The letter to the Lake says, “the committee believed the number of programs, student enrollment, facilities, relative geography, and conference structure was a better fit in the Lake Conference than it was for the schools in the Northwest Suburban Conference.”
The Lake Conference, as well as the Classic Lake schools, now have 10 days to file an appeal of the decision. Lake officials will meet on Monday to discuss their next step.
I’ll post further updates as the day moves along.

Everything would have turned out much better if there was an agreement to send two schools to each conference (or at least just Wayzata to NW Suburban). The likes of Chaska/Chan and the Bloomingtons probably would have been okay being in a conference with only 2 or 3 of those big schools, but just not all five.
Chaska and Chan were already in the process of applying to the MIssota for several weeks before this ruling. They sent a letter last week to the MIssota and made it official last night with a resolution by the school board.
Give credit to Chaska/Chanhassen for trying to get a jump on things. Too many people from the Lake chose to sit back and wait for things to happen rather than be proactive.
