1A hockey: Crookston wins third-place game

Crookston overcame a 1-0 deficit to beat Hibbing/Chisholm 3-1 in the Class 1A third-place game in the girls’ state hockey tournament Saturday. After Jamie Fenstermacher gave H/C a 1-0 lead 44 seconds into the third period, Erika Wheelhouse, Marlee Wheelhouse and Lexy Wangen scored for Crookston.

Stillwater advances with 4-2 win

The Ponies scored four unanswered goals to come back from a 2-0 deficit and advance to Saturday’s Class 2A State Championship game against the North Metro Stars.

Roseville leads 2-1

Roseville senior forward Erin Cody gave the Raiders a 2-0 lead with her goal at 15:24 of the first, but just 10 seconds later, Stillwater cut the back to one on a goal from junior forward Allison Schwab. Roseville has outshot Stillwater 13-7 through two periods, and Stillwater senior goalie Amanda Plumm has made some huge stops to keep the Ponies in the game.

The Raiders took the lead at 12:17 into the first on a goal from senior defenseman Kalie Deullman. At that point, Stillwater had no shots on net. Through one period, Roseville outshot the Ponies 5-1.
