The Tigers have grabbed a 3-1 lead after goals by Erin Johnson and Rachel Ripley in the second period. The second goal came as the Tigers enjoyed a 5-on-3 advantage following two quick penalties on Crookston.
Crookston got on the board only 1:39 in with a power-play goal by Erika Wheelhouse. But Farmington tied it at 12:11, on a second-effort goal by Krystal Bauman, after the puck bounced off goalie Jennifer Meyer’s pads.
Katharine Chute scored twice early in the third, giving Blake a long-awaited cushion. Blake advances to the title game against the winner of the Farmington-Crookston semifinal. That game should start around 1:45 p.m.
Blake turned up the pressure in the second period, outshooting the Bluejackets 9-3. The puck spent most of the time in the Hibbing/Chisholm zone, but the Bears couldn’t take advantage, and the Bluejackets are still in it heading into the third.
