More ads, back atchya….

August 1st, 2008 – 4:06 PM by Bob von Sternberg

None too pleased about John McCain’s “Celeb” ad that has largely defined the campaign this week, the Democratic National Committee has fired back with this ad:

Figuring their first shot at least drew blood, McCain’s ad shop came back with more mockery of Obama, in an ad called “The One” (the snark nickname McCain staffers have long used for Obama).

Team Obama promptly let it be known it was shocked, shocked: “It’s downright sad that on a day when we learned that 51,000 Americans lost their jobs, a candidate for the presidency is spending all of his time and the powerful platform he has on these sorts of juvenile antics,” said spokesman Hari Sevugan.

Obama proposes tapping nation’s oil reserves to help drive down gasoline prices
By TOM RAUM , Associated Press

Last update: August 4, 2008 - 11:09 AM

LANSING, Mich. - In a reversal, Barack Obama is proposing the government sell 70 million barrels of oil from its strategic petroleum stockpiles.

This is flip-flop number 253. If Obama continues this, McCain won’t need to worry about running ANY additional ads. Even hardcore democrats are beginning to wonder about this guys character.

I’m enjoying this very much.

I do not believe that we should use the strategic oil reserves at this point. I have said and, in fact, supported a congressional resolution that said that we should suspend putting more oil into the strategic oil reserve, but the strategic oil reserve, I think, has to be reserved for a genuine emergency. You have a situation, let’s say, where there was a major oil facility in Saudi Arabia that was destroyed as a consequence of terrorist acts, and you suddenly had huge amounts of oil taken out of the world market, we wouldn’t just be seeing $4-a-gallon oil. We could see a situation where entire sectors of the country had no oil to function at all. And that’s what the strategic oil reserve has to be for.

Hillary Clinton says she will help unify Democratic Party for fall campaign against the GOP
Associated Press

Last update: August 7, 2008 - 11:35 AM

WASHINGTON - Hillary Rodham Clinton told supporters in an online Web chat Thursday that she and Barack Obama will ensure Democrats are “fully unified” going into the fall presidential campaign.

When I read these kinds of comments, it confirms my belief that the democratic party is completely out of touch. What an arrogant theory considering their own party can’t agree on which votes should be counted among their potential candidates. Doesn’t she recall any of her comments directed at her competition? this woman is disgusting, and would do all mankind a huge favor by stepping in front of a train.

Bush insists Russia get out of Georgia, pledges to stand with people of Georgia
By TERENCE HUNT , Associated Press

Last update: August 15, 2008 - 11:12 AM

WASHINGTON - President Bush on Friday accused Russia of “bullying and intimidation” in its harsh military treatment of Georgia, saying the people in the former Soviet republic have chosen freedom and “we will not cast them aside.”

Bush ratcheted up his rhetoric against Moscow as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was in Tbilisi, Georgia to pursue a diplomatic solution to the week-old crisis. Standing alongside Rice, pro-Western President Mikhail Saakashvili said he had signed a cease-fire agreement with Russia that protects Georgia’s interests despite concessions to Moscow

Love the second paragraph. More “fair and balanced” reporting. I wonder which political party Terry belongs to?

Love the second paragraph. More “fair and balanced” reporting. I wonder which political party Terry belongs to?
