Knicks 151, Pistons 145, 3OT: Richard Hamilton had 51 points for the Pistons, but it wasn’t enough. Remember when Detroit used to give up 151 points in about two weeks? Rumor has it that preparations were being made to settle this thing with a center of the court brawl, winner-takes-all, had it gone into a fourth OT.
Wolves, Wild lose on the road: But that’s no surprise. The teams are a combined 9-23-1 away from home. At home? They’re 21-8-1.
Rory needs your help: Meanwhile, the fascinating write-in campaign trying to get Canucks’ defenseman Rory Fitzpatrick into the NHL All-Star game took a down turn Wednesday. He fell to third in the balloting, dropping behind Detroit’s Nicklas Lidstrom. He still has close to 500,000 votes, but only the top two defensemen make it. Fitzpatrick, a journeyman with no points this season, is a tribute to the massive power of this here Interweb. The site VoteForRory.com has generated a huge following. If you want to vote for Rory, click on this link and follow the instructions. You’ll need to fill out an entire ballot, and you’ll notice at the bottom you can select one write-in from each conference. You’ll find Rory Fitzpatrick under the Western Conference. If you think this whole thing is a farce and you don’t want to participate in these little reindeer games, forget we even mentioned it.
