Guest post: Chip Scoggins keeps it short and sweet

When it comes to college football, we here at RandBall don’t claim to have much expertise. In general, we prefer pro sports. That’s just the way it is. That said, we will be watching tonight’s BCS title game with interest. No. 1 against No. 2 gets our attention every time. And we also wanted to share some knowledge with you. So we asked Star Tribune college football writer Chip Scoggins for a quick pick. He is a man of few words, and none of them are wasted:
“I’ve voted Ohio State No. 1 with my AP vote since day one, and I’ll stick with that pick. I think Troy Smith will be the difference. He seems to play his best in big games and never looks rattled. His confidence carries over to the rest of the team, both on offense and defense. I see the Buckeyes winning by seven to 10 points.”
Your thoughts?

Chip Scoggins is indeed short and sweet. In a Dave Spehar kind of way.
… and to all of those people who think that Ohio State is an absolute shoo-in, and Florida probably doesn’t even belong, I have only one thing to say:
Boise St. 43, Oklahoma 42
This game smells a lot like past years, when there was one clear favorite and one team controversially included. And those games haven’t gone so well for the Florida-esque controversial:
1999: Oklahoma 13, Florida State 2
2000: Miami 37, Nebraska 14
Unfortunately for Gator Nation, this one seems pretty similar… and in eight years of the BCS, a one-loss #2 team has never beat an undefeated #1 team.
Florida can fly. That’s my vote. Airpower wins
How do you decided which team will win the BCS Championship game? You look to see if either of the teams has any alumni that have won a “Dancing with the Stars” title. Thanks to Emmitt Smith, the Gators are a lock to win.
Didn’t AC Slater attend Ohio State on a scholarship from Bayside? I think he did.
AC Slater attended IOWA on a scholarship from Bayside, thus earning him my undying emnity.
See game outcome, and my prediction above …Yesssssssssssss!
