MNF bringing sexy … check that … Kornheiser back

In fact, the whole Monday Night Football crew is coming back, according to Newsday. That’s right, a whole ‘nother season of awkward banter and news about Tony Kornheiser’s fantasy football team. Sorry, we thought it was a great idea at first, but Kornheiser’s first year was, in a word, disappointing. He has potential. Maybe year two will be different. Maybe Tony will stab Theismann in the leg with a fork to liven things up. We’ll just have to see.

Kornheiser = Randball

An interesting, even intriguing idea at first. But at the end of the day, just disappointing.

Isn’t the more appropriate analogy AT’s short-lived run as a third host on Purple Funk, Telli-ho? It had such promise. Such sexy, sexy promise…

Get Reeeeeealio. Theisman should go, Kornheiser should stay, and Tirico should learn how not to be the same old, diecast molded, sportscaster. For God’s sake, what do we have to do to get a guy who we won’t hate doing football games anyway. Hey, I have an idea! Lets get rid of all of them and put Gumbell and Aikman in the box. Whoo, just makes me all sexy and sweaty all over.

Can they also get rid of the awwwwkwwwward celeb booth appearances. I may be in the minority, but I think I prefer my MNF without Christian Slater.

For the past 5 years I have had the sound down on my TV on Monday nights. It will sound just as good to me. I’m just glad “pouting” Joe Senser is finally off my radio. He seems like a nice guy, but he ruins the broadcast when he can’t maintain his composure during a Viking loss.

With Kornheiser coming back — insert vomit bag here — I can’t wait for him to read player quotes on the air. It just brings a certain something to the broadcast. A titanic thing. Tirico was fine. Theisman’s ego swallows the booth. Michele Tafoya (sorry twin city fans) continues to be a rude so-and-so. She’s such a waste of time. Stealing money.

I personally loved when Joe Theismann asked Christian Slater if he was a football fan and Slater said, “Some of my friends are.” That was awesome. And when I say awesome, I mean totally sweet.

The whole Slater commentary was classic.

But in fairness to Christian, I don’t think Tony Kornheiser would have had such symbiotic chemistry with Lou Diamond Phillips in Young Guns II like Slater.

Football knowledge can suck it when you’re Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh.

I think ESPN forgot that the celebrities is not them per say but rather the game itself. It is better when you go low-key in the broadcast booth and truly the talented sportscasters then get involved when its a boring game. I mean do we really need more Sausage Races or an interview a game? Do the fricken interviews at half-time when I am getting some buffalo wings.

The only way to improve on the MNF booth is for TK to not stab JT in the leg but in the throat and then TK can go to jail. That would take care of both of the personalities in the booth…wait, there is another? When will ESPN wake up and realize that JT is the ABSOLUTE worst sportscaster in the known universe, and that this is gospel to 99% (I have to account for people with no taste) of all football fans?
