That’s less than 25,000 households per goal

If you thought a Wednesday night All-Star game on a channel many people still can’t find would equal a ratings bonanza, well, you were sorely mistaken. The NHL All-Star game had a 0.7 rating — which means 484,000 households watched the West slather goals all over the East in a 12-9 victory. We’re not sure, but we think that’s neck-and-neck with our old cable access TV show. What, you don’t remember Purple Funk?

Proving to show some sports are more fun to play than watch as are most. “Spectators” as a species evolved when people became voyeurs, addicted to Lazyboys and chips…but do I generalize too much ? Only a touch

The dish backlash strikes again. First the NFL Sunday Ticket, then the MLB Extra Innings package, and now the NHL All-Star game on cable access (which you can’t have on a dish). I’m beginning to hate major sports leagues…and the NHL.

I’m still looking for seasons 1-3 of Purple Funk on DVD. Apparently Blockbuster doesn’t carry many copies.

Purple Funk was cool, but you got nothing on the dude that plays scrabble versus the entire city of Minneapolis.

SuperRookie, I know the Scrabble guy. I can get you on his show if you want. Probably.

Any chance of a Purple Funk reunion show?

I’d be happy to play the role of Scott Mitchell and/or Charlie Batch.

C’mon, fellas … let’s get the band back together!

Like I’ve said before, no other game other than hockey is it far more fun to play than to watch. Watching, the players move like ants on meth only slightly more interesting than soccer but alot faster.

Maybe, it’s because the season is so damn long, longer than fishing season I think, and at least in fishing I get a fish here and there. Hockey ? I know people say the enjoyment is in the process not in the scoring, but come on ! But, if you’re playing, you get to blast someone now and again even if no one scores…Give me baseball or football, no doubt the reason most of sane America (a small RATIO, rocket) likes those sports best as well. The NBA ? who likes that Freak sport anyway where 1/2 the players need jump only 1 cm to stuff ?
