Hot off the press release heap comes this news: The Maryland Nighthawks of the American Basketball Association have signed Sun Ming Ming of China, a 7-foot-9 player believed to be the tallest player in the history of professional basketball. Presumably, he will play point guard. He will be introduced at a restaurant in Chevy Chase, Md. (this is a real place, we’ve been there) and free lunch follows. So if you aren’t already going to the bikini ice fishing, and you’re going to be in Maryland on Wednesday, look out for the really tall guy.
