Let’s all shed a tear for poor David Beckham

From Reuters.com:
David Beckham has said he is desperate to play for Real Madrid again despite being ostracized by coach Fabio Capello after announcing that he would join MLS side LA Galaxy at the end of the season. “It is very hard for me because I would like to help the team,” the former England captain was quoted as telling sports daily Marca on Thursday. “I’m desperate to play again … I don’t know if I will but I’ve got to keep on training. I want to leave this club on a high.”
Capello said Beckham would never play for Real again two days after the midfielder announced that he had signed a five-year deal with LA Galaxy worth $250 million.
That’s right. Beckham signed a deal worth $50 million a year with another team. And that picture? It’s from Disney Parks, and it’s Beckham playing a prince in a new Disney campaign. So it’s OK to stop feeling sorry for him right … now.

I didn’t know Beckham, L.A., Madrid or even his perty white horse is worth 50 mil. Now watching Kobe play basketball might be worth some serious money, but soccer ? What are Angelenos thinking about ? Oh yeah. I forgot the fav team sport of the country down under. Personally, I hope somebody does bend Beckham ’til he breaks.
“I kind of feel sorry for the horse” - The 40 Year Old Virgin
Speaking of the “40 year Old virgin” (unrelated question is this), but I’m flying out West soon and am not, to be blunt, a frequent or comfortable flyer, so am taking my portable dvd player with to play mindless movies like “Virgin” for a distraction. Any other ideas like that flick..”Old School” etc..to distract me from the idea I am at 30,000 ft moving 600 mph ?
Little Miss Sunshine might go well if you haven’t seen it yet. It’s about a road trip that ends up in California. Kind of suits you since you’re going out west… it’s also frickin hilarious.
No way is Beckham getting paid $50 in the MLS, no matter what the reports say. That obviously has a zillion promotional deals tied into it. I wonder what the actual worth of the contract is.
I’ve heard of “Miss Sunshine’ but not seen it. Is that with Alan Arkin ? He’s friggin nuts
PP, ‘Sunshine’ is one of the best, if not the best movie of the year. Perfect for a long flight.
I used to enjoy flying immensely. That is until I read this article about cars and how, though they must meet engineer’s specs, are always made by the ….lowest bidder ! Gulp. That’s ok with a Ford but a Boeing ? Now I just look out the window and watch the wing rivets ![]()
