timberwolf.jpgAfter being embarrassed at Houston a couple nights ago, the Wolves clobbered a shorthanded Golden State squad 121-93. It was a sub-.500 opponent missing Baron Davis and Jason Richardson, but the Wolves did have the courtesy to display the quiet, seething intensity you see in their name sake on the right.

Gophers men’s hoops? Lost. Next. Tim Brewster said, “It’s the dawn of a new day here,” while talking about a class of 22 recruits for 2007. That’s a little bit of a stretch. It’s pretty much the same era right now, considering much of the class was recruited by Glen Mason. The new recruiting era starts, oh, right about now for 2008.

Wade Phillips to coach Cowboys: That’s what ESPN is saying. He’s never won a playoff game (0-3) during two full-time coaching gigs in Denver and Buffalo, which makes him the logical successor to Bill Parcells, who also didn’t win a playoff game in Dallas.

Terrence Kiel, one of six chargers to run afoul of the law since April — look out Bengals — plea-bargained his way out of jail time in a cough-syrup related charge.
