Tuesday edition: Wha’ happened?

computer.jpgWhat happened? We’ll tell you what happened. We went to turn on the old laptop this morning, and — poof — nothing. Hence the late start. So we’re working from an undisclosed location (OK, it’s disclosed, and it’s a PC about 15 feet away from our desk), but it’s very disorienting. Not to worry, though: A team of professionals (shown on the right) is on the case, and we should have this figured out in no time. What else happened?

Marty Schottenheimer got canned. Some say it was a power struggle, and that the ex-coach and GM A.J. Smith no longer shared tender embraces like they used to. And that’s a shame. The Chargers, you might recall, were 14-2 last season. That’s pretty good.

Two Illinois men’s basketall players were in a serious car accident involving a tree.

And we don’t consider ourselves huge college hoops afficianados, but we did finally get around to checking around that Kevin Durant kid from Texas last night against Oklahoma State. He scored 21 — four under his average — and his smoothness reminds us of a cool milkshake on a hot summer day. He just makes everyone around him want to say “Damn!” We will be watching more of Mr. Durant.
