An update, an invitation and a platypus

First, the update: As many of you know (or at least 45 of you), the RandBall Tournament Challenge (part 2, this time it’s personal) is nearing completion. Gift cards to NBA City, guest posts and other mystery swag are all on the line. Current standings can be found right here, which is also where you must remember to make your picks for the final two rounds. A synopsis of how things are going: Ekellenb and Lpniemi are tied for first with 214 points; Toonces51 is close behind with 208. Scroll down. Scroll down. RandBall is pretty much a non-factor with 174. BUT: The semifinal games are worth 32 points each and the championship game is worth 64. Nail all three and you might find yourself right back in the prize mix.
Second, an invitation: Because this tournament will go down to the title game Monday (8 p.m.), and because the Twins also open that very night (conveniently starting at 6 p.m.), we are hoping to put together a congregation of RandBall commenters, contest entrants, friends and enemies to watch the game(s) and talk some trash. If you’re up for it, let’s hear you in the comments or via e-mail. Throw out a suggestion for a place. Suggest a theme that will ensure stragglers know how to find us (everyone wears pirate hats? Probably not). We’d rather not drink alone. Though we will.
And finally, the platypus: Just because.
