It’s not stealing if you give credit, right?

1birthday.jpegToday’s posting is going to end a little earlier than usual because it’s the Future Mrs. RandBall’s 28th birthday and much work remains to be done. That’s her with our pug, Petunia (who will be 4 next week, and therefore also “28″ if you do the whole dog years thing). So: Happy 28th birthdays to the RandBall ladies …

In any event, the commenters have been carrying this thing all week. Seriously, you guys have been hilarious, and the guest posts have been funnier than anything we could produce. We’re merely a conduit for your hilarity, wit and discussion, so let’s end the week with a good question: Now, we heard this a few days ago on the P.A. and Dubay show, and it seemed to  bring out some good stories: What is the most memorable sporting event you have ever attended? It got us to thinking, and the answer might be a game that technically “never happened”: The Gophers men’s basketball game at Michigan in 1997 when they clinched the Big Ten title. Something about a late comeback, writing two stories on deadline (back at the Minnesota Daily at the time), having the computer actually work to send the stories back to Minnesota, watching the nets come down and then driving back overnight and having our partner in crime, who now works at the Philadelphia Inquirer, turn off the windshield wipers during a blinding rainstorm and announce he was going to use “the force.” Yeah, we’ll never forget the whole thing. But we want to hear your stories. So have at it, and remember: Monday, 6 p.m., Lyle’s, Twins, NCAA hoops, merriment and possibly free chicken. Many shining moments, we hope.
